The School of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Connecticut State University recently held the 11th Annual Student Research Conference and Exhibition. The event featured research projects in the form of oral, poster, performance, and art presentations.

The ECSU Foundation's competitive scholarship awards are based on merit and, in many cases, unmet financial need. The scholarship process is coordinated by the Office of Institutional Advancement. The following local students were among the approximately 300 Eastern Connecticut State University students to receive ECSU Foundation competitive scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year:

One of the approximately 70 student clubs and organizations at Eastern Connecticut State University is the TV 22 Club. The purpose of the club is to give students a chance to enhance their future careers by providing knowledge in the field of television.

The mission of the Campus Lantern is to inform and educate the campus community about news and events on campus, to create a place where students can gather and discuss topics important to them, and to provide a source of valuable truthful journalism for the student body and beyond.

One of the approximately 70 student clubs and organizations at Eastern Connecticut State University is Eastern's student chapter of Habitat for Humanity. The purpose of the chapter is to increase awareness of substandard housing on campus and in the community. Members benefit from gaining community service hours, learning construction skills, traveling, enhancing their resumes, meeting friends, becoming involved in the University's community and helping families suffering from poverty.

One of the approximately 70 student clubs and organizations at Eastern Connecticut State University is Eastern's Repertory Dance Troupe. The purpose of the Repertory Dance Troup is to expand members' knowledge of dance styles, to provide an outlet for artistic expression and to offer members experiences and new discoveries in dance.

The purpose of the Debate Society is to inform and educate student members about the different aspects of debating. The Debate Society fosters and promotes intelligent and engaging debate, while providing activities and events for its members and Eastern community.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized 2,434 students for excellence in academics on the 2011 Fall Semester Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.50 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester. The University is proud of these high-achieving students from your area.

Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its list of full-time students who were named to the fall 2011 Dean's List.

The Center for Community Engagement supports the mission and vision of Eastern Connecticut State University by providing resources to build a culture of civic responsibility and engaged learning.

Stonehill College recently named the following local residents to its Dean's List for the Fall 2011 semester.

Eastern Connecticut State University's Habitat for Humanity campus chapter held its annual "Shack-a-Thon" fundraiser over a 24-hour period from Oct. 26-27 in front of Webb Hall. The fundraiser was held to increase awareness of substandard housing in the Willimantic community.
